Our unique Shiells Senior Services™ recognises that our elderly population may increasingly need support from a trusted professional – we have designed affordable service plans to help them cope and plan for the future.

Growing older can make coping with the ups and downs of daily life a little more difficult. Friends and relatives would like to help, but modern life does not always make this possible. That is why Shiells Solicitors has designed a service, from less than £1 a day, to take away the work and the worry of dealing with financial, household, and, if required, personal welfare matters.

Our service plans are designed to help you live your own life, in your own home, for as long as possible. We can help you manage not only on a day-to-day basis, but also to plan for the future.

We appreciate that every one of us is different, with different needs and expectations. You may need only a little help, and to know that we are there if you need us, or you may need more. Our service plans are flexible so you can use them as much, or as little, as you like.

What is Shiells Senior Services™?
There are two service plans.
Our Solway plan™ includes all of the following:
One of our solicitors will visit you at home to explain how the service works and help you to complete the documents we will need to be allowed to support you. There will be a simple Client Agreement which describes the services that you will receive, and a Power of Attorney authorising us to act in your best interests;
We will prepare and/or revise your Will. Everyone should have an up-to-date Will. A Will gives you peace of mind, and helps make things easier for your loved ones. It doesn’t take long and we will make it quick and simple;
We will discuss your circumstances and check which benefits or entitlements you are receiving; we will liaise with government departments and other organisations to ensure that you are receiving all of the entitlements due to you. Many thousands of people do not claim what they are entitled to because the system is so confusing. We will keep on top of all of the relevant legislation, and manage this for you;
We will manage your household utility bills and get you cost reductions where possible;
We will pay your everyday bills relating to your property and financial affairs;
We will organise household repairs for you, using either the tradesman of your choice, or one from our own panel of reputable, approved tradesmen;
We will manage insurance claims for you where necessary;
We will give you a free tax and financial planning consultation with one of our independent, authorised experts;
We will arrange home groceries delivery if you require;
We will give you access to our 24 hour help-desk, which is there for emergencies, or even if you need a friendly chat;
We will provide an annual report of all bills paid;
We will visit you at home each year to discuss your personal support plan, and make amendments as required.

Our Cromarty plan™ includes all of the benefits in our Solway plan, and we will also help with your personal welfare matters, or be ready to do so should the need arise:

We will deal with your Local Authority in connection with, for example, home help support, community meals service, night sitters and personal care. Some Local Councils provide personal care support to help with daily chores such as taking a bath or getting dressed. They may also offer help with your laundry or cleaning;

We will provide support in dealing with medical institutions;
We will identify and arrange for any additional welfare benefits and entitlements due to you;
We will source suitable sheltered housing, residential or care home accommodation, if required, and help with the move - for example arranging for a reliable removal firm to uplift the items you are taking to your new accommodation. (We can also assist you with the sale of your present home if appropriate);
We will visit you twice a year to discuss your personal support plan, and make amendments as required.

You can move from our Solway plan™ to our Cromarty plan™ at any time.
